At my last PAYE job, before taking the leap to become a business owner, the auditor had explained how he took over his father's practice. The entrepreneurial aspect of that really appealed to me. Also, working in the motor industry with Ford, a guest one day said to me that running your own business was nectar. I will never forget his words! They were to light the taper of my inspiration to become an entrepreneur. 


I left what was effectively my last PAYE job all fired up with enthusiasm. It was from that point onwards that I set up my accountancy practice. Working at Ford Motors, there were very high standards in the quality of work. This was the perfect forerunner to managing my own accountancy firm. 


Another major inspiration for my business is being a part-time lecturer in creativity on MBA courses for over 20 years. This means I am able to spot opportunities for tax refunds for clients and know how to scale their business in innovative ways. 


Creative problem solving and the development of products are two key areas in which I realised I could help SMEs. We were destined to become more than just a standard accountancy firm because we could offer leading edge business consultancy, as well as standard accountancy and tax guidance.
